Part 1 of 5
This documentary about Simon Kjær was broadcast in March 2021.
Kjær: “Perhaps the memory that most stands out in my career, at least one of them, is against Sweden on June 6, 2009. I was having high expectations for myself, but at the same time I was incredibly excited to play this match. It was all so new. During the match there were of course ups and downs, also because it was my debut. ”
- Simon Kjær, captain of the Danish national football team
Kjær: “I was playing an incredibly important match, to get to the World Championship in South Africa. I caused a penalty and still, until today, I don't believe that was supposed to be a penalty. Thomas (Sørensen, goal keeper back then) saved the penalty. It was the whole spectrum of emotions that we went through.”
